Hong Kong Chief Executive election, 2002 : ウィキペディア英語版 | Hong Kong Chief Executive election, 2002
The Hong Kong Chief Executive election in 2002 was the second time the Chief Executive of Hong Kong was selected by an election. It is also the first selection under which the territory was part of the Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. Approximately 800 members of the Election Committee (推選委員會) nominated Tung Chee Hwa with no competition.〔Bush, Richard C. () (2005). Untying the Knot: Making Peace in the Taiwan Strait. Brookings Institution Press. ISBN 0-8157-1288-X. pg 94.〕 ==History== Similar to the 1996 election, the selection committee of 800 was formed almost entirely biased in favor of Beijing's stance.〔 In September 2000 the Chinese vice premier Qian Qichen requested Anson Chan, a former Chief Secretary for Administration, to support Tung Chee-hwa, as Chan was a formidable challenger to Tung. Both Qian and Chinese premier Zhu Rongji expressed support for Tung's second term.〔
